Steve Kaufer, CPP

In 1974 Steve Kaufer formed a security alarm and central station company which was among the largest independent alarm companies in Southern California prior to its sale in 1989. The firm provided alarm system and security guard services. In 1989 he formed Inter/Action Associates, Inc to provide security consulting services.

During his security industry career Steve Kaufer has appeared before many security and industry audiences, including the International Security Conference. Articles he has written have appeared in Access Control, Security Management, The Construction Specifier, Security Sales, The School Security Report, The Harvard Business Review, School Business Affairs, Campus Law Enforcement Journal, Security Technology & Design, Building Operating Management, School Planning & Management, School Safety, Report on Campus Community Safety, and others.

Steve Kaufer was a contributing author to the Security Management Encyclopedia. He was a co-author and co-editor of The Complete Workplace Violence Prevention Manual and also of Premise Security and Liability – A Comprehensive Guide from the Experts.

He is co-founder of the Workplace Violence Research Institute.

Steve Kaufer has earned the designation of Certified Protection Professional (CPP) from ASIS International, the largest professional security association in the world. He earned this appellation in 1989 and has maintained it, by meeting continuing education and other requirements, since then.

Steve Kaufer is a member of the International Association of Professional Security Consultants, served as its president from 1999 to 2001, and currently serves on its Board of Directors.
